There Is No Limit

As I mentioned in my previous video blog post, last weekend I did a "There Is No Limit" photoshoot in New York so here are some pics of my trip.

Me with Mariama Petrolawicz, one of the co-founders of "There Is No Limit". She took me out to a great dinner at this cute little french restaraunt in East Village, it was so cool and loud:)

I always order a virgin pina-coloda, it's my favorite drink.

The view from the room was amaziggggg.

Things only in New York.....

I love the ice cream truck in New York. I always get a vanilla cone w/ rainbow sprinkles.
<3<3<3

Because the shoot was so exclusive I couldn't really take any behind the scenes photos but as soon as they send me the edited pics I will post them. I actually really can't wait to see them because I did like 4 different looks and I loved them all. The website won't be launched till 2011 but I'll keep you guys posted with whatever pics they send me. You can also check out my pageant's site.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

As the reigning Miss Guinea, my platform is fighting back against dometic violence of women, specifically. October is Domestic Violence awareness month for those who didn't know and as an activist against battering women i thought it was only right that I drop some knowledge on the issue. Domestic Violence also known as domestic abuse, spousal abuse, child abuse or intimate partner violence (IPV), can be broadly defined as a pattern of abusive behaviors by one or both partners in an intimate relationship such as marriage, dating, family, friends or cohabitation.I know that Domestic Violence is nothing new and we all know it's a problem but I think raising awareness is not the problem, the problem is educating women to protect themselves and not to be arfaid to speak out if they are being physically or mentally abused. It is also important to raise funding for womes's shelters so that battered women have a safe haven to escape to.

The facts:
-One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.
-An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.
-85% of domestic violence victims are women.
-Historically, females have been most often victimized by someone they knew.
-Females who are 20-24 years of age are at the greatest risk of nonfatal intimate partner violence
-Most cases of domestic violence are never reported to the police.
-One in 6 women and 1 in 33 men have experienced an attempted or completed rape.
-Nearly 7.8 million women have been raped by an intimate partner at some point in their lives.
-Sexual assault or forced sex occurs in approximately 40-45% of battering relationships
- 1 in 12 women and 1 in 45 men have been stalked in their lifetime.
-81% of women stalked by a current or former intimate partner are also physically assaulted by that partner; 31% are also sexually assaulted by that partner

Women make it this way?

So as a young woman I've realized although I'm highly career driven and future oriented I can't help but notice that the young men around my age are not at my level of maturity. What really strikes me is, weather this is biological or is it our fault as women?
I've noticed that the guys that are all sweet and gentleman like and would do anything for me are the ones that I, personally, and from what I've heard other women, walk all over. Like if your too nice and you always let me have my way I start thinking your my bitch. I mean seriously, women just won't respect you. Although it's suppose to be an equal partnership it all goes back to the evolutionary point where the strong man takes charge and provides for the family, right?
Even though women complain about how guys can be such jerks and how selfish they are and all that, it's that chase the back and forth with the arguing that just keeps us wanting more. That's why we fall for those assholes that make you so mad and leave you in tears but have you melting the next day and you can't help but forgive him.
And although the nice guy does everything right, the feelings just aren't there. So maybe nice guys do finish last?
Now I'm not saying we should all be chasing after bad boys or that guys should start being jerks but I just wanted to point out the irony of the situation. I personally think that when a man and a woman are in love the man should always love more, that's how you know he's the one.

Anyways, to back up my theory, I was watching Jersey Shore(my guilty pleasure) the other night and the episode featured this girl Angelina smashing Vinny, her roomate after the two were bickering for a week, calling each other names and whatnot. This gave "Mike the Situation"(another roomate)an opportunity to explain on television that Angelina has proved the “Ho Equation.” He says:

“You have proven an equation that people have been trying to solve for hundreds of years: That when you are nice to a girl, you take her on four dates, you snuggle with a girl, you buy her gifts, she will, she will NOT call you, she will play you the f*ck out, and then she will f*ck somebody three days later, somebody that she hates … Angelina has proven the Ho Equation.” —The Situation

I partly agree with "the situation" on this one, I wouldnt say hoes but felmales in general tend to take advantage of nice guys. I guess guys just need to find a balance. That is all.

Awkward Moments.

I feel like a lot of awkward things happen that I see on a daily basis and I never say anything but in my head I'm like.....awkwaaaaaaaard.lol
So here is a list of funny situations I have composed through my encounters because awkward moments are inevitable no matter how cool or calm you are. Enjoy!

1.When a ugly person calls another person ugly and everyone is thinking well you not really the best looking either
2. When you keep bumping in to someone... they walk right you walk right, they walk left you walk left etc.
3. Talking really loud when loud music is on and then people turn it down and you say something really loud. Like this one time I was at a party talking to my friends and I yell "Waka Flocka is the devil" right when the music goes off, everyone stopped and started at me like I was crazy.
4.Being stuck in an elevator with a stranger, like do you try to make small talk with the stranger? Or do you pretend like they are not there? Even just riding a couple of floors together can be uncomfortable.
5.When you wave to someone and that other person doesn't see you, so you look like a total ass
6.You walk into the bathroom and push open the door and much to your surprise somebody is already in there and neglected to lock the door. Now both you and the other person are embarrassed because entirely too much has just been shared between the two of you.
7.When you see an old friend or someone you just met and they greet you by saying hi Bob or whatever your name is and you just say heyyyyyyyy cuz you can't remeber their name but they remebered yours so it feels awkward.
8.When someone accidently spits on you while talking, gross but it happens to the best of us.
9. Forgetting your wallet at home, not having any money on you can be helpless feeling, and it can happen to anyone. Walking up to the checkout counter at a grocery store and realizing that after you've checked all your groceries but have no form of payment? Ugh.
10. Talking about a group of people or people who are of a certain ethnicity/religion or whatever and having somone of that group be right there. The other day Ado said white ppl have long noses and this white lady walks by and I know she heard cuz Ado is loud (cuz he's black of course). I felt horrible cuz thats a really mean thing for someone to hear.
11. When you say your gonna tell a really funny story and after you tell the whole story no one laughs-_-
