iWear African: Mama Africa Showcase

I stopped by this Mother Africa & Her Talents event and I thought it was only right that I wore this sleeveless collared African print mini. My cousin had this made for me during a recent trip to Guinea and I have been dying to wear it. My photographer friend Wale was there so I had him snap a few photos of me.Peep my gorgeous vintage cocktail shoulder bag, it's shaped like a present! My mom gave it to me, she said she hasn't worn it in ages...it's so 80's. There are so many hip vintage items in our storage place in White Oak, it's like my very own thrift store. I think I'm gonna go have a look through my mom's old pieces this week cause she has so many great things she doesn't wear anymore. I can so bring them back.

Just Continue To Be My Sunshine.

Today I dragged my bestfriend along with me to the mac counter to get my foundation for the summer. I don't know about you guys but my skin color changes with the seasons. Winter time I'm a light brown/caramel but by the time it's summer I'm a Hershey's kiss.lol When it's summer my winter foundation no longer matches my skin tone so I had to get a new one. Anyways while I was at the mall I went bathing suit shopping. For the last like 5 years I have gotten all of my bathing suits at old navy, they have the best ones! And I refuse to spend over $60 for those bathing suits at victoria's secret when I can get one that is just as cute for like $25 at old navy, yes I'm a bargain hunter. I felt like dressing up a little today so I wore a miu-miu inspired blouse with my go-to pleather patched leggings and these beautiful suede polka dot platforms by Zinc. I swear those shoes are so comfortable. The most comfortable heel in my opinion are wedges, than platforms...pumps and stilettos always kill me.

Soul Tape.

If you haven't listened to Fab's new mixtape, Soul Tape already then you're missing out. It's a great mixtape and  I have always been a fan of Fab because he makes good music that we can all relate to. I feel like he is a little underrated too, not as much as Lupe but he deserves more love and recognition for his music then he gets for sure. Anyways take a listen and decide for yourself. I really enjoyed it, my favorite track is "Leaving You", I could really relate to that one!

Hey Jean Jacket!

The title of this post is dedicated to the guy who tried to go smack at Shieley.lmao
Took a trip to the Zoo with 2 of my bestfriends and the lil one, Lisa:) I love going to the zoo because it's free and I it's great excercise! We decided to go on a whim and I was happy to get out and get my mind off of the pressure I was feeling from my upcoming finals. I have been studying so much this past week, I literally feel like my brain is gonna explode and then I won't have to worry anymore because then I'll know I'm gonna fail for sure.lol Anyway doe, the pictures from this day came out so horribly, I really need to learn how to use this camera. The setting is constantly on automatic because I don't know how or what the others are used for:(
Funny how one of my closest friends is a photographer but I still don't know how to use my SLR. hmph.

You had to pay a quarter to use the bathroom inside of  Mickey D's -____-

I Wear African.

I mentioned in a previous post how I would start wearing my own african clothes so here it is. I wore an ankle length snake print dress and ended up switching it up by tucking the front of the dress into my waist belt and leaving the back hanging so that it was short in the front and long in the back. I know some people are like O_o right now but it's cute, trust me.
I loved wearing my African dress so much I have decided to create a segment on my blog showcasing modern African clothes and fashion and I'll call it iWearAfrican...what do you guys think?

Manjula's Graduation.

So my cousin Manjula graduated form Washington Adventist University yesterday and umm...We So Proud! *Rebecca Black voice* lol. Although I was super happy for her I couldn't help but feel depressed for myself because for one all my older cousins have now graduated., I'm the only one still in college not counting my younger cousins. But it's like all of them are starting their careers and regardless of our age difference I have always tried to tag along and be apart of their click but now I feel like they are about to be on their grown women shyt, probably get married and have babies soon and I'm gonna be left behind:( Some people take youth as a time to party and have fun but honestly, sometimes I wanna skip all this. The adults in my life are like, what? why would you wanna be a grown up, I wish I could go back to being young. I'm such an old soul, I swear, I want to be married by the time I'm 22 and have kids at 25. I understand if everyone reading thinks I'm crazy now or that's too young but I feel like it's not your age it's your mindset. Although I can be immature or irresponsible in some aspects like cleaning my room or being on time to class but as far as what I want out of this life, I already know unlike many  of my peers. The other reason why the graduation made me sad is cause I realized I still have 3 more years for my bachelors then 2 more of my masters -_____- ughhh. I'm not exactly keen on school although I do take it seriously and find it to be both important and stimulating. Anyways the day wasn't about me, it was about Manjula and it was really great having the fam come together. It was like 40 of us and we went to this Thai restaurant after the graduation, the food was great! I had fried duck for the first time, tastes like chicken, of course.lol
